Supporting the program
Fundraising accounts for everything the rugby teams need: national championship plane tickets or a bus charter, hotels, meals, uniforms, equipment, and the rest.
The teams rely on this fundraising for those costs.
The rugby clubhouse
Scrum Alum raised funds to build the rugby clubhouse. The nearly $1 million clubhouse was dedicated in 2021, with a ribbon-cutting during the 51st men’s / 37th women’s anniversary weekend.

Chris Munn Rugby Scholarship
The Chris Munn Rugby Scholarship was endowed in 2016 by friends and family of Chris Munn ’81. It is awarded to a returning student-athlete from the men’s team and from the women’s team who show leadership, courage, and dedication on and off the pitch, are in good academic standing, and have financial need. The scholarship is presented at Homecoming. Chris Munn 7s is the related ALS-awareness tournament.
Alan ’75 and Cynthia ’75 DeForest NURFC Scholarship
The Alan ’75 and Cynthia ’75 DeForest NURFC Scholarship was established in 2005 with a challenge gift from Alan and Cynthia DeForest ’75 plus former players and friends of the Norwich Rugby Club. It is awarded to incoming students who play rugby, and it is renewable if they keep playing.
